The aim of the DiCES research project – “Digital Transformation of Circular Economy for Industrial Sustainability” – is to develop a data-based value creation system for a multidimensional circular economy in manufacturing companies. All ecological and economic potentials of an integrated circular economy should be utilized. DiCES is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK). The group of partners also includes FIR e.V. at RWTH Aachen University (consortium leader), Miele & Cie. KG, “Werkzeugmaschinenlabor” WZL at RWTH Aachen University, All for One Group S, IconPro GmbH and Klima.Metrix GmbH.
Manufacturing buses is particularly challenging for a production facility: components have to be produced in low quantities and in many variants. The aim of TwinMaP is to develop digital twins for a heterogeneous machine park as well as for the value stream and supply chain. The interaction between machines and processes is to be optimized on an IT platform and the effects of new technologies made predictable. EvoBus GmbH is coordinating the project, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK). Other partners include Trumpf, ISG and SimPlan as well as Kempten University of Applied Sciences.
How can small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) manage the digital transformation? A digital reorganization of production is considered an adequate way. The InTeLeMat project is developing solutions for this in the three dimensions of people, technology and organization. For employees, it is about lifelong, independent learning. Assistance systems support people in their tasks. Organizationally, matrix production and its work organization are central topics. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is funding the project, which is being coordinated by the Fraunhofer IWU.
The production of the future – Advanced Manufacturing – is the focus of the European initiative LCAMP (Learner Centric Advanced Manufacturing Platform). The aim is to offer vocational training centers, companies and associations an international platform for knowledge development and exchange. A comprehensive offering for organizations and regional Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) is being developed with training and further education programmes, a collaborative learning factory and an open research community. The consortium consists of 20 full partners from 10 countries. 60 associated partners support the initiative. The EU provides funding.
How can energy efficiency be increased in the production of precision parts made from steel materials? The EMulDan project aims to provide an answer. The aim is to evaluate multivalent data. The necessary technologies, sensors and software and hardware components are being developed for this purpose. The project partners are also developing appropriate analysis tools, evaluation algorithms and forecasting models. The project sponsor is Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH. Funding is provided by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK).
